Passion is Key to Women’s Success in Hospitality
With over 20 years in the events and venue management, hospitality and corporate communications industry, her passion for developing people is what drives her the most. Meet Megan Arendse, the newly appointed Convention Centre Manager of Sun International’s flagship resort, Sun City.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Megan as Convention Centre Manager”, says Raul de Lima, Sun City General Manager.
What the dynamic Megan enjoys about working at Sun City is the fact that it is a multi-property environment with varied and innovative product offerings. “I have also enjoyed the warm welcome I have received from everyone and I am proud and honoured to be leading a state of the art, beautifully designed Convention Centre”.
Megan boasts that she has the most incredible team of dedicated and passionate staff who will really go to the ends of the earth to meet the objectives of all their clients. “I also have the most amazing and experienced peers to be working with. Raul de Lima is an incredible visionary leader and I look forward to achieving Sun City’s strategy in collaboration with him and my fellow team members”, she says.
With her drive and passion for what she does, Arendse is bound to take the Sun City Convention Centre to another level in terms of providing clients with a seamless and world-class experience. Sun City has so much diversity to offer a business delegate – during and post a conference.
Megan was a key role player in opening up the renowned Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in 2003 and gained twelve years’ experience in strategic management, heading up the operations and commercial departments respectively. She was also instrumental in contributing to the organisation’s consistent profitability and positioning the centre and Cape Town as a world-class venue and business events destination and has been a director on local industry boards in the conference and exhibition industry.
With her postgraduate qualification in Management from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town and having been recognised as one of the top 40 women in MICE two years ago, Megan brings nothing but positive contributions to Sun City and the group as a whole.
