Tsogo Sun supports WPRI development
Three youngsters have earned Western Province Rugby Institute bursaries for 2013, as part of Tsogo Sun’s new sponsorship deal with Western Province Rugby.
Promising WPRI players Wesley Adonis, Michael Haznar and Alvino Montjies were officially presented with their bursaries at DHL Newlands on Saturday – ahead of the DHL Stormers v Cheetahs match – by WPRFU President Thelo Wakefield.
Also in attendance on Saturday were WPRFU Executive member Peter Jooste, WPRFI CEO Jacques Hanekom, John van Rooyen (Tsogo Sun Operations Director) and Clive van Groeningen (Director of Operations & Complex GM – Mykonos Casino).
The Mykonos Casino, via the West Coast Community Trust, is proud to support the development of rugby in the Western Cape and one of the bursary winners, Wesley Adonis, happens to hail from the West Coast region (Malmesbury).
* Tsogo Sun’s initial relationship as the official hotel supplier to WP Rugby was extended by three years earlier in 2013 to include two properties from their gaming arm, The Caledon Casino, Hotel and Spa (in the Overberg Region) and Mykonos Casino (on the Cape West Coast).
The inclusion of these two new destinations has important CSI implications for the Overberg and West Coast communities. Tsogo Sun initiatives will include annual bursaries (as per above) for promising players to attend the WP Rugby Institute which has already developed the likes of star forwards Siya Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth (to name just two).
Schools and clubs in these areas will also benefit from coaching clinics and signing sessions with their rugby heroes – with two having taken place at the Caledon Casino this year and another set to take place at the start of the 2013 Absa Currie Cup. School kids will also continue to be transported to watch all DHL Stormers and DHL WP home games, so that they can have first-hand experience of the magic of DHL Newlands.
