TaylorMade Golf Raises R1 Million for Charity in Three Years
TAYLORMADE GOLF RAISES R1 MILLION RAND FOR CHARITY IN THREE YEARS THROUGH TAYLORMADE STAFF INVITATIONAL
TaylorMade Golf has raised a total of R1 million rand for charity through the annual TaylorMade Staff Invitational which began in 2010.
The Invitational, which takes place across various golf courses in SA, provides an opportunity for TaylorMade Golf to thank their on-course professionals for all their hard work as well as reward loyal customers for their support through a series of golf tournaments. This year the Invitational took place at Copper Leaf in Centurion, Clovelly in Cape Town and Oubaai in George. Two winners from each event were selected to participate in the final event which was held at Fancourt in George.
For the professionals, the event offered a cash prize of R10 000 for the winner and the chance to play in the 2014 Mauritius Open, which was won by Altus Kapp, of Scratch Golf.
The tournament also allows the chance to give back to the community through various fund raising activities. This year a cheque of R100 000 was handed over to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital which will go towards the upgrade of their Burns Unit. A further R25 000 was donated to each of the following charities – Jellybeanz, an organisation based in Blouberg that assists in providing emotional support to children and families who have experienced abuse and trauma, the Sarah Fox children’s hospital in Athlone and finally to Tears – an animal rescue organisation based in Fish Hoek.
“The TaylorMade Staff Invitational is no doubt an event that our staff and customers look forward to each year and we are thrilled to be able to give back to the community in the process”, said TaylorMade Product and Marketing Manager, Andrew Kalis. “Our aim was to reach R1 million rand by 2013 and we are so pleased to have achieved this objective. We thank all the participants for their generous contributions in trying economic times, ensuring the 2013 TaylorMade Invitational was a success. “
Tara Van Schalkwyk, Communications Manager at Red Cross Children’ Hospital, had the following to say, “We thank TaylorMade Golf for everything they have done for the Hospital over the last three years. We know how much time and energy is put into the tournament, and would like to express our gratitude to Andrew and his team for all the hard work and support he has shown over the years.”
