Suncoast Towers Food & Spa Pairing Experience
Suncoast Towers Hotel Spa is bolstering its therapeutic menu to compliment the authentic Durban Indian flavours served at its signature Jeera restaurant.
Guests could now experience the perfect pair of treatments complimented by the fare incorporated and served by its Executive chef Sandren Govender.
The blissful experience is based on Durban’s unique identity where aromatic spices are used to therapeutically indulge the senses.
“The strategy was to create a menu that transforms the spa experience from merely spa, which is high-touch, to a mind-body transcendent moment that becomes high-taste as well as high-touch,” said Spa manager, Simika Narang.
“We wanted to take the spa as well as the restaurant out of its traditional environment and challenge the conventional approach to both.
“The experience is quite unique and places Suncoast Spa firmly on the map for innovation and forward-thinking.”
Narang added that wellness was the keyword of the spa future and the more integrated the experiences became, the more wellness they could promote.
The experience begins with a cleansing ritual with a sandalwood scented scrub paired with a chai tea drink to warm you up before the starter. This is enhanced with a sandalwood scent which fills the private treatment room to encourage the mood of relaxation.
The journey gets started with a lime, jeera and mandarin exfoliation coupled with a smoked salmon bellini topped with lime and mandarin dressing.
For mains, guests can indulge in the cinnamon, clove and mustard oil full body massage followed by a yoghurt, mint and honey body wrap. This is complimented with an aromatic chicken tikka wrap served with braised jeera raita.
The rose water and coconut pedicure is incorporated in the dessert course and paired with the sweet decadent flavor of traditional Indian sweetmeat, coconut ice.
Govender said he was thrilled to work closely with the hotel’s spa adding that the creative coupling of food and relaxation complemented and elevated the spa experience.
Hotel GM Adrian Penny says “This innovative approach, to complement the tastes of our food with the flavors and scents of our treatments at the spa gives our guests a unique Durban experience”.
“It utilizes a sort of food intelligence that the body has – when you reach dessert in a meal, you know it is approaching the end and you feel satiated,” added Penny.
