The Rhino Knights campaign aims to solve the rhino poaching problem through global awareness and action creating a collective conservation consciousness.
Tourism Tattler is a media partner to Rhino Knights, an initiative of Earth Awareness couple Lloyd Gillespie and Isabel Wolf-Gillespie and in association with the Lawrence Anthony Earth Organization and Dr. Ian Player’s Magqubu Ntombela Foundation, and will be reporting on the couples progress during their arduous journey through southern Africa.
Assisted by Lloyd and Raphaela (Isabel´s sister) as support team and a film crew, Isabel will run the equivalent of a half marathon (21kms); cycle 60-80kms and, on the same day, horse ride the balance to cover an average daily distance of 100 kilometers. Parts of the journey may be done without the horse component and the travelled distance on foot and bicycle may therefore increase. The journey will start from Durban to Cape Town; to the Kunene River/Namibia (Border of Angola); East to Botswana and Zimbabwe; to the East Coast of Mozambique; South to Hluhluwe/iMfolozi Game Reserve and back to Durban.
