In this 21st Report, I tackle the concept of ‘Tourism for All’ without any discrimination, be it colour of the skin, religious belief, political affiliation, gender, disability, or sexual preference, and expound on the need to accept the concept; that what is good for a better tourism industry in the Seychelles is indeed good for the Seychellois people as a whole.
I also speak about racism as an example of segregation based on the colour of the skin which is always resorted to when all logical arguments are exhausted. These futile and racist slurs can also be heard in Seychelles by tired politicians who have no other cards to play.
As aptly stated by Kristen Butler on this topic:-
“The people who actively find faults in others are the same people who are completely blind to their own.”
I look at the turbulent times Seychelles is going through because of the alarming rising cost of living and the pervasive threat to personal safety and touching on the fact that as life gets harder for the Nation, crime rates will be on the rise. As the local financial personality, Malika Jivan rightly wrote just a couple of months ago, the Seychellois are now prisoners in their own home. I also speak about the arrival of Austrian Airlines and the fact that tourism for Seychelles is so integral that it is the bread, butter, jam and even the hand that holds the bread. We look at the weaker Seychelles Rupee.
I speak about Kaven Parcou, a Seychellois Tourism Pioneer who passed away and the final preparations meeting in Victoria by Members of the Executive Committee of the Seychelles Labor Union (SLU).
