Reunion Island’s SA invasion
French cuisine, vibey, upbeat island style music and island styled hostesses greeted guests as they entered the Melrose Arch Plaza in Johannesburg and V & A Waterfront in Cape Town this past week.
These two venues provided guests with an experience of a lifetime as they depicted Reunion Island. Guests were transported into a land that’s blessed with a tropical climate and beautiful volcanic landscapes, white sandy beaches and mountain scenery.
The event was graced by the likes of Azania Mosaka, Mpho Maboi and Pabi Moloi. Khabonina Qubeka was inspired and ready for the trip to Reunion Island as she looked delectable in her tropical inspired outfit. Jean Claude Cleret, world-renowned chef prepared canapés and those in attendance can now testify why he is the greatest French chef to come out of Reunion Island. George Sax performed soulful, jazzy tunes on the saxophone with his band, combining powerful, up-tempo saxophone melodies with party-starting house DJ music.
To end of the entertainment piece was the gorgeous Stéphanie Thazar who is dubbed as a “Chameleon of the World”. Straight out of Reunion Island, Her mesmerizing husky but also velvet-smooth voice transported guests to the island by her energizing stage performance that’s spiced with flamenco dance, and African tango.
Travel enthusiasts flocked the venues and some guests got to walk away with the ultimate prize for the evening: A fully paid trip for 2 to Reunion Island for a week.
Those who are still envious that they didn’t win can still stand a chance by visiting http://www.welcometoreunionisland.com/. You will get to travel with the world-travelled Jo-Ann Strauss, who happened to be the MC for the events.
What’s even more of an attraction is the fact that you don’t need a visa to visit the island.
