The Ratt Race is all about having a blast while raising money for the David Rattray foundation which supports locally-based education initiatives, including almost twenty schools in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Young and old, fit or not, everyone is welcome to participate or to stand on the side lines and shout for their favourite athlete. Competitors can choose to take part in the run or cycle on Saturday 20 July and all proceeds from the event go to the Foundation. The race’s setting, along public dirt roads through the battlefields of Northern KZN, is scenic and full of history making for fabulous family fun as the route winds past Rorke’s Drift and under the shadow of Isandlwana. Although the races take place on Saturday, make a weekend of it and enjoy the festivities that have been planned around the event.
Nedbank Private Wealth has pledged its support for the David Rattray Foundation by coming on board as the main partner while Life Healthcare, SATIB Insurance Brokers, Identipet, Internet Solutions and HMS have also given sponsorship to back this good cause. “The RattRace was started by a bunch of our mates many years ago. We wanted to do something in honour of my late husband, David, who did so much good while he was alive, and now, even in his death, is still able to contribute to this community and continue to live through this foundation, making this world a beter place to be,” says Fusgitives Drift owner and race organiser Nicky Rattray.
