Top Honours for TBCSA CEO on International Women’s Day
The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) CEO, Mmatšatši Ramawela is amongst today’s recipients of the 2017 International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) Global Award.
The award ceremony which is currently underway in Berlin, Germany is hosted by IIPT India, in collaboration with the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and ITB Berlin. This is the second edition of the Global Awards for Empowered Women in Tourism – “Celebrating Her” – which this year coincidentally takes place on International Women’s Day.
The Global Awards are intended to acknowledge and celebrate exceptional women in the fields of travel, tourism and hospitality. They honour women business leaders who understand that tourism’s potential to become the first global peace industry; and who have worked relentlessly towards fostering tourism business as a vehicle for peace and sustainable development.
Dr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of UNWTO, is amongst the dignitaries in attendance, alongside the Seychelles former Minister of Tourism, Mr Alain St. Ange, Zimbabwe’s Minister for Tourism, Dr Walter Mzembi, and senior government representatives, global industry leaders and the international media.
