Gordon’s Bay Celebrates its Secret Season
Cape Town, 24 June 2018 – On the False Bay shore, at the base of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, the picturesque village of Gordon’s Bay will again ignite with a spectacular display of lights for its ‘Secret Season’ and the “Winter Wonderland Festival”, (29 June – 1 July 2018) and (6-8 July 2018) – a fun start to the winter school holidays in South Africa!
The ‘Parade of Lights’, will open the festival at 18h30 on 29 June with marching bands, drum majorettes and some 40 participants. The parade will lead spectators along the beachfront past sparkling restaurants, to the Carnival Village at Hendon Park, which offers a lively family atmosphere.
“Winter Palace snow storms, live music shows, talent concerts, arts, crafts and food stalls with festive fare, pancakes, gluhwein to hot chocolate, the enchanting fairy market, face painting, the Carnival Pub and exciting rides at the Fun Fair – all will delight the young at heart”, says Leon Theron, the Festival Organiser. He adds, “Also at 15h30 on 1 July, a Gospel concert at the historic NG Kerk will offer a ‘sing-a-long’ opportunity.”
This annual event, presented by a committee of volunteers, has been created to help build prosperity and employment in the area and has become a major attraction on the Cape winter calendar.
