Gauteng Tourism engages with trade
Johannesburg 21 October 2013. Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) convened a Trade Growth Strategy Workshop at the Emoyeni Estate in Parktown today.
Members of the Gauteng travel trade were invited to participate in the full day workshop, aimed at gleaning information and opinion from both the public and private sector of tourism in the province.
“As a public sector body, the GTA’s mandate is to assist in attaining the goals of the Gauteng Tourism Sector Strategy, which is aligned to the National Tourism Sector Strategy, by working with the private sector to enhance and grow tourism into the province. To do this, we have to work closely with all trade stakeholders and their input into our growth strategy is essential,” says GTA Trade Development and Partnership Manager, Corne Koch.
Facilitated by Willem S Eksteen, CEO and founder of Stone Consulting, the workshop addressed numerous issues including business goals and challenges, strategic communication goal setting and the business landscape, understanding the GTA business context through PLEST (a strategic planning tool used to evaluate the impact that Political, Economic, Social, and Technological factors might have on a project), and wrapping up with a SWOT analysis, audience & stakeholder mapping and key message development processes & channels for trade marketing.
The Trade Growth Strategy Workshop follows hot on the heels of The SUMMIT Travel & Tourism Industry Conference held on the 14th and 15th of October at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton.
