Final Falke Full Moon Hike
The Falke Full Moon Hiking season wraps up with a spectacular autumn holiday hike at Delvera Farm outside Stellenbosch on Tuesday, 11 April. Whether with a group of friends, family or that special person, hiking up Klapumutskop at sunset promises to be an unforgettable experience.
The 9.75km marked circle route through the vineyards starts at the DirtopiaTrail Centre and gives you the unique experience of hiking through the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy and Yellowwood forest to the top of Klapmutskop. It can take you up to one and half hours to reach the top so arrive early to ensure that you have the full experience before the sun sets at 18h30 and the moon rises at 19h00. Savour stunning views of the Winelands and Table Mountain in the distance, while enjoying a picnic on top of Klapmutskop and see the full moon rise.
The cost is R80 per person and R35 for children under 10 yrs (includes shuttle & map). Picnics must be booked and paid for at least two days before the event date. Menu options are available at www.dirtopia.co.za or bring your own. The Dirtopia Café is situated next to the Trail Centre on Delvera farm and will be open until 21h30 on the evenings of the full moon hikes.
A shuttle service is available, especially for children. The hike then starts with the single track at the Pepper Tree – this will shorten the route to less than 5km in total. This option will take about 30 minutes to the top. You can be back at the Trail centre from around 20h00 – 20h30, depending on your walking speed.
Bring something warm to wear after dark and a torch, but there is a selection of Energizer torches available at the Trail Centre as well. Wear hiking shoes – you are climbing a mountain. Snacks & cooldrinks for sale at the Trail Centre. All hikers stand a chance to win a FALKE sock hamper on the night #FALKEHIKE .
Advance bookings are advised as space is limited.
