Fair Trade Tourism MD Resigns
The Fair Trade Tourism Board of Directors today announced that their Managing Director Jane Edge will be leaving Fair Trade Tourism with effect from end February 2019.
After four years on the Board of FTT, much of it served in an executive capacity, Jane has expressed her wish to devote more time to private interests and to spending time with family abroad.
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jane for her dedication to Fair Trade Tourism over the past four years, during which time she helped to grow the organization into a considerable responsible tourism force in Africa. We will miss Jane’s energy and enthusiasm and wish her well with her future endeavours,” said Dr Salifou Siddo, Chairman, Fair Trade Tourism.
Ana Lemmer, who joined Fair Trade Tourism over a year ago as Programme Development Manager, will take over the reins as CEO until further notice.
Ana holds a Masters of Philosophy in Cultural Tourism and Heritage Studies and worked with FairTrade International in several capacities prior to joining Fair Trade Tourism. She previously headed up an EU and UN-funded project to promote sustainable consumption and production in South Africa and represents Fair Trade Tourism on the UNTWO One Planet Sustainable Tourism Multi-Actor Platform.
The Board has every confidence in Ana and believes that she possesses both the strategic and project management skills necessary to help drive Fair Trade Tourism’s growth further,” said Siddo. “Fair Trade Tourism has much to be proud of, and we wish the management team every success in continuing to pursue the organisation’s responsible tourism goals.”
