Fair Trade Tourism Appointments
Tourism Month saw a number of strategic changes implemented within Fair Trade Tourism (FTT). In keeping with global best practice, the organisation has now contracted FLO-Cert as their outsourced certification body.
Going forward, FLO-Cert will conduct audits against the Fair Trade Tourism certification standard. This move has enabled FTT to encourage and support tourism businesses to become certified without conflict of interest. In that light, FTT has created two new positions, namely that of Sales Manager and Business Development Support (BDS) Manager.
The new Sales Manager, Emilie Hagedoorn, has represented FTT in European source markets as a PR & Sales Consultant for the last two years. Her move to Pretoria will now strengthen FTT’s engagement with the South African tourism industry as well.
The new BDS Manager, Thiofhi Ravele, has an extensive background in route development with Open Africa and brings knowledge of enterprise development as well as networks to FTT.
These strategic developments will position FTT to scale up its programme, both within South Africa, as well as in the southern African region.
