Benguela Cove lagoon wine estate is hosting a seven-course dinner prepared by seven of the top chefs from Western Cape on June 8. All proceeds go towards the newly launched FynArts Fund to extend the benefits of the annual festival to a wider community and establish a School of the Arts in Hermanus.
Fine food and award-winning wines are blended with the ambiance of the lagoon wine estate at Benguela Cove, with accordion and violin musical accompaniment. Resident chef Kelly-Anne Pietersen and invitation chefs from top Western Cape restaurants will each be preparing an Italian-themed course:-

Penny Streeter and Nick Rea, owners of Benguela Cove, are hosting the event at the manor house and the chefs are giving their time for free at the event, which includes an auction.
At the wine estate, there is also an exhibition of sculptures, paintings and pastels by leading South African contemporary artist Sheena Ridley, which opens on June 6.
Visitors can relax with a glass of fine wine in the beautiful setting of the Benguela Cove tasting rooms on the lagoon from 9am to 5pm until June 16 – or join other guests at the opening reception on June 7, from 4pm until 6:30pm
Sheena is noted for her large Ferro cement sculptures, palette knife oils, and gentle oil paintings and pastels. Paintings and sculptures focus on movement and stance, influenced by local settings. Her modernistic figures display interesting use of light and shade, often with a touch of humour.
Visitors can join a series of ‘interactive workshops’ with the artist, from June 8-12, 9-10am. These include ‘use of palette knives in oil painting’ and ‘armature in sculpture’, when Sheena demonstrates the role of the framework around which a sculpture is built.
The final event of the programme at Benguela Cove is an afternoon high tea in the lagoon setting. There is classical music accompaniment by recitalists Nerina von Mayer, alternate Principal Flute in the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra (CTSO); Donat Pellei Sub-Principal Bass with the CTSO, and Gabor Jeney, Cape Town’s best known violinist.
