Celebrate The Cradle Festival Wine Weekend
The Cradle Festival Wine Weekend will be held for its second consecutive year at Maropeng on 20 and 21 April.
As part of The Cradle Festival Wine Weekend, event-organisers, The Leverage Corporation, will be hosting The Cradle Mountain Trophy, for mountain-biking enthusiasts, and an 8km and 16km Mountain Trophy Trail Run.
Event and race organiser, Rob Jackson, MD of The Leverage Corporation, says, “The Cradle Festival is the ideal family event and ideal sporting getaway for the whole family.”
For runners and cyclists entry into the Festival is free, and the purchase of a wine glass for tasting is R25.
Top SA bands, The Graeme Watkins Project and Newton Second Law, will provide chilled, acoustic tunes while the Amphitheatre at Maropeng is transformed into a village of tasty delights. Several winemakers will be showcasing their wines and a number of boutique beer manufacturers will be showing off their latest brew. There will also be a large variety of food stands including Amicis, Earth Shakes, Longtom Foods and Best Biltong, to name a few, as well as various arts and crafts exhibitions including much of the work from the Siyazisiza Trust and Khumbulani Craft expo.
“It will be a great day out for the whole family and we’ve arranged a fun, safe, kiddies area to keep the little one’s entertained while the parents sample some of the delicious food, beer and wine on offer. We encourage people to round up their friends and families, bring a picnic blanket and come and join in the fun,” says Jackson.
Just a short 40 minute drive from either Johannesburg or Pretoria, what better place to spend a weekend than at Maropeng in the Cradle of Humankind. Gates open at 11:30. Entry for adults is R120 each and includes a free wine glass. Children under 17 receive a complementary entry. Tickets can be purchased before the weekend either online at www.webtickets.co.za, or at the gate.
