Badplaas Resort Recovers From Flood Damage

BADPLAAS, Mpumalanga, South Africa, 31 December 2018 – Following a flash flood that partially affected Badplaas, A Forever Resort on Friday, 28 December 2018, Forever Resorts South Africa has announced that the resort is open for business while restoration and clean-up operations are underway.

The following facilities have been re-opened:

  • Camp and Caravan Park including ablution facilities 
  • The ablution facilities at the Day Visitor area
  • The Hydro Coffee Shop
  • The Arena Entertainment area (entertainment will resume as scheduled from Sunday, 30 December 2018
  • The Rinkhals
  • Cold water swimming pool at the Day Visitor area
  • Putt-Putt course
  • Badplaas Nature Reserve
  • The Chip and Putt course
  • Spa

The following facilities will remain closed due to restoration and clean-up:

Speed Slides and Super Tubes (will be opened shortly)

  • The kiddie’s pools and slides 
  • Hydro and Indoor Pools remain temporarily closed until further notice
  • The outdoor warm pool area outside the Spa entrance (main and kiddie’s warm pools)
  • The bridge between the Day Visitor area and the outdoor warm pool remain closed as railings undergo restoration. Alternative access can be gained via the Day Visitor entrance
  • The Curio and Kiosk at the main and kiddie’s warm pools
     

The following facilities were not affected by the flood:

  • Self-Catering Chalets and Rondavels
  • Forever Hotel Badplaas and Restaurant
  • Forever Hotel Badplaas swimming pool
  • Forever Hotel Badplaas Lapa
  • Forever Hotel Badplaas Conference facilities
  • The Bush Lapa in the Badplaas Nature Reserve
  • The Bikini Bar
  • The Eco Quad Bike Trails
  • Fufi slide
  • Gecko’s Pub
  • Go-Carts
  • Hair Dresser
  • Supermarket
  • Butchery
  • Pharmacy
  • Jive Café
  • Laundroma
  • Liquor Store
  • NG Church
  • Tennis Courts
  • Volley Ball facilities
  • Horse Trails
  • The Bridge within the Nature Reserve
  • The Hillside Hut Bistro and Grill

“We can confirm that guests are safe, no injuries were sustained and there were no fatalities during the incident. The Resort has received support from across the country and we are working hard towards restoring Badplaas to the standard guests expect”, said Kobus Tait, Managing Director of Forever Resorts South Africa.
